Bornfrees Season 3: the journey begins

Eight years ago when we met our Bornfrees, we were driven by a desire to find out how young South Africans have been affected by being born into freedom. These children - from incredibly diverse backgrounds - all share the commonality of being born in 1994 - the year South Africa became a democracy. They are amongst the 677 000 children that were born in South Africa in that landmark year and are now turning eighteen.

The Bornfrees team will be filming during May 2012 and updating this blog as they travel the country and delve into the lives of our original Bornfrees. They participated in Season 1 at the age of ten, then again in Season 2 aged fifteen years and Season 3 will be broadcast on etv from 16 September 2012.

We're also looking for inspirational stories from other eighteen-year-olds who want to share moments of celebration, insights about themselves and contributions to a discussion about the challenges and privileges of being a Bornfree.
If you were born into freedom and want to share, please contact us on bornfrees18@gmail.com or visit our Facebook page.
